Frequently asked questions.

  • I am a full-service editor offering copy edits, developmental edits, line edits, and proofreading. I offer services as a package or priced individually. If you decide me hire me, you may take advantage of as many or as few of my services as you wish.

  • Yes! I will edit your first chapter as a sample. If we are a mutual fit, I offer the first chapter at an introductory rate of $50.00, which I will factor into the overall cost of my services.

  • To get started, please email your first chapter to evanne@fleurdelit-editorial.com. I will have the sample edit back to you within two business days.

  • You and I will sign a contract and arrange a financial plan that works for both of us. You will then send me your manuscript pages in hard and electronic copy. If you opted to include developmental edits in your package, that is the first step of editing I will perform once I receive your pages. The second step will be line and copy edits. You will then have the chance to approve my corrections. Once you do, I will use them to edit your electronic copy while performing a final proofread on your manuscript. At the end of the process, the hard copy manuscript and finalized Word document will be returned to you.

  • My turnaround time is 21 days for books under 50,000 words, 30 days for books up to 100,000 words, and 60 days for books over 100,000 words. For an additional fee I am happy to expedite a short book to 14 days, a medium book to 21 days, or a long book to 30 days. Pricing for expedited delivery can be found under “Services and Specialties.”

  • Absolutely not. I believe in communication and collaboration between author and editor. Maintaining the author’s voice as I polish the manuscript is a duty I take very seriously. I will never remove a section or even change the wording of a sentence without consent from my author. I offer the opportunity for authors to approve or deny my corrections after the copy edit phase has been complete. Only corrections which have received the author’s approval will be edited into the final manuscript.

  • I welcome fiction of all genres, but I have the most experience editing horror, suspense, historical, and romance fiction.

  • I edit works of fiction only.

  • No. I also offer individual services.
