I will perform a free sample edit of your first chapter. Should you decide to move forward with my services from there, I offer the first chapter at 50% off my usual rate, factored into the overall cost of the editorial package. I will draft a contract for us each to sign and make a financial plan that works for us both.
-
Once I have been established as your editor, I will ask you to provide me your manuscript in hard copy. I will use your hard copy to perform my first round of developmental edits, ensuring structure, coherence, and readability. I will provide you constructive feedback on plot, character development, and other narrative elements. You as the author will then use my feedback and notes for any potential rewrites.
-
If an additional draft is necessary, I will ask you to send the provide me the new pages in hard copy once they have been completed. If not, we will move directly to the copy and line editing phase. In this phase I will work to improve grammar, syntax, sentence flow, and punctuation. I will provide my corrections to you for final approval. I understand your book is your baby, and I will never make a change to a manuscript that the author has not approved. I believe in collaborative communication between author and editor. As an editor, my role is to polish your manuscript while maintaining your stylistic voice. You are the author, and my goal is to support you in bringing your book its full potential.

Once we have agreed on the changes that will be going in your final manuscript, I will ask that you provide me the manuscript in Microsoft Word form. I will use the marked hard copy to make our mutually agreed-upon changes to the Word doc manuscript. While doing this, I will also perform a final proofread to ensure that all punctuation, spelling, and grammar issues have been addressed. When I have done this, your finalized Word doc manuscript and hard copy pages will be returned to you.
